Biography
Visual artist Assante Chiweshe works across fashion, commercial, documentary photography, motion, and directing. She explores identity as queer Black woman through intimate, authentic storytelling. Beginning by capturing local nightlife, her practice evolved to center human emotion and the human experience, creating visual worlds that extend beyond pain and suffering toward whimsical, captivating beauty. With collaborations including Netflix, Nike, Converse, Showmax, Adidas, and Boiler Room, she drives culture forward by being the representation she didn't grow up seeing, creating work that lasts decades and proving Black female artists can shape visual language with joy and complexity, building permission for those who come after.
