Biography

Visual and editorial fashion journalist Mkhetwa Baloyi works at the intersection of fashion, culture, and visual storytelling. Through platform DeMode Journaliste, he creates fashion journalism that moves beyond surface aesthetics, breaking down runway collections, spotlighting emerging and established designers, interrogating garments and silhouettes, and placing South African fashion within global conversation while remaining rooted in local context. His work spans written editorials, video essays, interviews, and visual analysis for publications like Color Theory Magazine and Trendsetters Magazine. He drives culture forward by shaping narrative, slowing fashion down long enough to be understood, respected, and remembered, proving storytelling is infrastructure that builds culture's future when documenting designers and creative ecosystems with intention.
