Biography

Visual storyteller Naledi Satekge works at the intersection of design, research, film, and photography. Her practice challenges dominant narratives around African culture, interrogating stereotypes associated with gender and identity while confronting systems of inequality. Centering perspectives of women, queer individuals, and marginalized communities, she uses image-making as tool for creative activism and conceptual storytelling. Growing up in Soweto and navigating systems that overlook nuanced African narratives, her work combines research-led thinking with emotive visual language. She drives culture forward by building representation where it has been denied, creating visual languages that affirm complexity and contribute to more inclusive cultural landscapes for the next generation.
